Abstract
A method for delivering power to a grid. The method may include receiving a prediction of power generation for a renewable energy source (RES), receiving power level requirements of the grid, and receiving length of power delivery requirements of the grid. The method may further include determining a power delivery limit based on the prediction of power generation, the power level requirements, and the length of power delivery requirements. The method may further include delivering power to the grid according to the power delivery limit from the RES and an energy storage system (ESS) electrically coupled to the RES.
Claims17
A method comprising:
- receiving a prediction of power generation for a renewable energy source (RES);
- receiving power level requirements of a grid;
- receiving length of power delivery requirements of the grid, wherein the length of power delivery requirements of the grid specifies an amount of time greater than a length of time of power generation of the RES;
- assigning weights to the power level requirements of the grid and the length of power delivery requirements of the grid;
- determining a power delivery limit based on the prediction of power generation, the weighted power level requirements, and the weighted length of power delivery requirements;
- and
- delivering power to the grid according to the power delivery limit from the RES and an energy storage system (ESS) electrically coupled to the RES, wherein the combined output of the RES and the ESS is limited by the power delivery limit.
A system comprising one or more processors configured to:
- receive a prediction of power generation for a renewable energy source (RES);
- receive power level requirements of a grid;
- receive length of power delivery requirements of the grid, wherein the length of power delivery requirements of the grid specifies an amount of time greater than a length of time of power generation of the RES;
- assigning weights to the power level requirements of the grid and the length of power delivery requirements of the grid;
- determine a power delivery limit based on the prediction of power generation, the weighted power level requirements, and the weighted length of power delivery requirements;
- and
- deliver power to the grid according to the power delivery limit from the RES and an energy storage system (ESS) electrically coupled to the RES, wherein the combined output of the RES and the ESS is limited by the power delivery limit.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon that, upon execution by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:
- receiving a prediction of power generation for a renewable energy source (RES);
- receiving power level requirements of a grid;
- receiving length of power delivery requirements of the grid, wherein the length of power delivery requirements of the grid specifies an amount of time greater than a length of time of power generation of the RES;
- assigning weights to the power level requirements of the grid and the length of power delivery requirements of the grid;
- determining a power delivery limit based on the prediction of power generation, the weighted power level requirements, and the weighted length of power delivery requirements;
- and
- delivering power to the grid according to the power delivery limit from the RES and an energy storage system (ESS) electrically coupled to the RES, wherein the combined output of the RES and the ESS is limited by the power delivery limit.
