• wherein the set of intermediate spaces comprises a plurality of multi-fluid intermediate spaces, each multi-fluid intermediate space of the plurality of multi-fluid intermediate spaces allowing for circulation of a plurality of fluids between two adjacent plates of the stack of plates, each of the plurality of multi-fluid intermediate spaces being partitioned into a plurality of compartments separated from each other, each compartment of the plurality of compartments being configured for circulation of one fluid of the plurality of fluids, and each compartment of the plurality of compartments being in fluid communication with one of the plurality of compartments of a distinct multi-fluid intermediate space of the plurality of multi-fluid intermediate spaces.
