Abstract
Described are medical devices including expandable tubular bodies configured to be implanted into a lumen, wherein the outer surface of the expandable tubular bodies are coupled to a polymer(s).
Claims15
A method of coating an implantable medical device, the method comprising:
- activating a surface of the implantable medical device by silanization with a silane, wherein the silane includes a reactive group selected from an acrylate, methacrylate, aldehyde, epoxy, ester, or a combination thereof, and
- coupling a polymer formed from a first acrylate monomer and a second monomer containing an amine, a carboxylic acid, or a hydroxyl group to the reactive group of the activated surface, wherein the first monomer is alkoxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, tetrahydrofurfuryl acrylate, or
- wherein
- R1 is hydrogen,
- R2 is an alkylene group with 1 to 4 carbons, and
- R3 is an alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbons.
