Abstract
A thermoformed packaging unit is produced from a thermoformable sheet that has a printed pigment deposit located generally in a central position between the first and second rigid components. The packaging unit has only a low level of pigment distortion even when thermoformed to a draw ratio greater than 4.
Claims17
A thermoformed packaging unit comprising a thermoformable sheet comprising:
- a) a multilayer film comprising
- i) a first surface layer,
- ii) a second surface layer, the second surface layer comprising an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, and
- iii) a first barrier layer;
- b) a printed pigment deposit located directly adjacent to the second surface layer of the multilayer film;
- c) a first rigid component with a thickness of at least 6 mil (152.4μ);
- d) a second rigid component with a thickness of at least 6 mil (152.4μ);
- e) wherein the multilayer film is located between the first and second rigid components and the packaging unit has a draw ratio greater than 4.
