Abstract
Embodiments are directed towards selecting content search results based on the age of the viewer. The content receiver receives search criteria for a viewer, which may include the age of the viewer. The content receiver obtains search results from a search of a plurality of content. The search results are prioritized based on the age of the viewer and presented to the viewer. In this way, searching for “dog” for a four year-old may provide or prioritize different results compared to search for “dog” for an eight year-old.
Claims19
A method, comprising:
- receiving, by a content receiver, search criteria for a viewer;
- receiving, by the content receiver, an age associated with a viewer;
- obtaining, by the content receiver, search results from a search of a plurality of content based on the search criteria;
- prioritizing, by the content receiver, the search results based on the age of the viewer, the search criteria, and metadata of the search results that includes mappings between a plurality of groups of search terms and different ages;
- and
- presenting an identifier for the prioritized search results to the viewer.
A content receiver, comprising:
- a transceiver that receives content;
- a memory that stores computer instructions;
- and
- at least one processor that, when executing the computer instructions, cause the content receiver to:
- receive an age associated with the viewer;
- receive search criteria from the viewer;
- search a plurality of content for search results based on the search criteria;
- prioritize the search results based on the age of the viewer, the search criteria, and metadata of the search results that includes a plurality of groups of search terms that are mapped to different ages;
- and
- present the prioritized search results to the viewer.
A non-transitory processor-readable storage medium having contents stored thereon that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform actions, the actions comprising:
- receiving search criteria for a viewer;
- receiving an age associated with the viewer;
- obtaining search results from a search of a plurality of recently watched content for search results based on the search criteria;
- prioritizing the search results based on comparisons between the age of the viewer and the search criteria with metadata of the search results that maps a plurality of groups of search terms to different ages;
- and
- presenting an identifier for the prioritized search results to the viewer.
