Network bridge between different network communication protocols

A network coordinator device comprising:

• a processor;
• a memory containing instructions for execution by the processor;
• a first port to operatively couple the network coordinator device to a first network that uses first media access control (MAC) addresses of a first size;
• and a second port to operatively couple the network coordinator device to a second network that uses second MAC addresses of a second size different from the first size;
• and
• wherein the processor executes the instructions to perform a network bridging protocol to bridge data frames communicated between the first network and the second network including:
• translate communications between a device of the first network having the first MAC addresses and a device of the second network having the second MAC addresses, including translating a first MAC address of the first network to a second MAC address of the second network using a first translation format when the first MAC address is assigned a first address formation size and includes a first extended unique identifier (EUI), and translating the first MAC address to the second MAC address using a second translation format different from the first translation format when the first MAC address is assigned a second address formation size and includes a second EUI different from the first EUI;
• and
• adapt a frame format of a first network protocol of the first network to a frame format of a second network protocol of the second network, including fragmenting data frames of the first network protocol when needed using a fragmentation format of the second network protocol.
