Token service provider for electronic/mobile commerce transactions

A method of verifying a transaction, comprising:

• accessing social media information provided by a user on an electronic social media network;
• generating, based on the accessing of the social media information, a common identifier for the user, the common identifier being defined as a combination of an identifier of a merchant, an identifier of the user, and a funding instrument associated with the user, the common identifier indicating a consent of the user for the merchant or an entity associated with the funding instrument to perform one or more activities in one or more predefined environments;
• receiving, after the common identifier has been generated, a token associated with a request to complete a first transaction involving the user and the merchant, the request containing a first Global Positioning System (GPS) location of the user at a time the request is received;
• determining, based on information associated with the common identifier, whether to approve the first transaction, wherein the determining whether to approve the first transaction comprises:
• analyzing one or more postings of the user on the electronic social media network;
• determining, based on the analyzing and via a GPS sensor, a second GPS location of the user when the one or more postings of the user were made;
• determining whether the first GPS location matches the second GPS location;
• determining whether the first transaction is an activity of the one or more activities;
• and
• evaluating a risk of the first transaction in response to a determined match or a mismatch between the first GPS location and the second GPS location and to based on the determining whether the first transaction is an activity of the one or more activities;
• sending the common identifier to the merchant;
• receiving, as a part of a second transaction involving the user and the merchant, the common identifier from the merchant;
• and
• tracking a behavior of the user based on the received common identifier.

A non-transitory machine-readable medium having stored thereon machine-readable instructions executable to cause a machine to perform operations comprising:

• accessing social media information provided by a user on an electronic social media network;
• generating, based on the accessing of the social media information, a common identifier for the user, the common identifier being defined as a combination of:
• an identifier of a merchant, an identifier of the user, and a funding instrument associated with the user, the common identifier indicating a consent of the user for the merchant or an entity associated with the funding instrument to perform one or more activities in one or more predefined environments;
• receiving, after the common identifier has been generated, a token associated with a request to complete a first transaction involving the user and the merchant, the request containing a first Global Positioning System (GPS) location of the user at a time the request is received;
• determining, based on information associated with the common identifier, whether to approve the first transaction, wherein the determining whether to approve the first transaction comprises:
• analyzing one or more postings of the user on the electronic social media network;
• determining, based on the analyzing and via a GPS unit, a second GPS location of the user when the one or more postings of the user were made;
• determining whether the first GPS location matches the second GPS location;
• determining whether the first transaction is an activity of the one or more activities;
• and
• evaluating a risk of the first transaction in response to a determined match or a mismatch between the first GPS location and the second GPS location and based on the determining whether the first transaction is an activity of the one or more activities;
• sending the common identifier to the merchant;
• receiving, as a part a second transaction involving the user and the merchant, the common identifier from the merchant;
• and
• tracking a behavior of the user based on the received common identifier.
