A system outputs data for performing an operation. The system confirms an identity of a device on which to perform the operation by receiving an input from the device and verifying that the input matches a known identifying information of the device. The system allows the operation to be performed on the device after confirming the identity of the device. The system receives feedback from a monitoring system that monitors states of a plurality of devices including the device, including a state of the device after the operation is performed on the device. The system determines whether the state of the device received in the feedback matches an expected state of the device after the operation is performed on the device. The system outputs data for performing a next operation after determining that the state of the device received in the feedback matches the expected state of the device.
A handheld device for performing a maintenance procedure comprising a plurality of sequential operations to be performed on one or more of a plurality of computing devices in a distributed computing system having a state monitor interconnected to the plurality of computing devices via a computer network, the state monitor being configured to monitor a current operating state of the individual computing device, wherein the handheld device comprising:
A method for using a graphical user interface (GUI) based portable device to perform a maintenance procedure comprising multiple sequential operations to be performed on a target device in a distributed computing system having multiple additional devices interconnected via a computer network to a state monitor configured to monitor a current operating state of the target device and the multiple additional devices, the method comprising:
A non-transitory computer storage device storing instructions for using a graphical user interface (GUI) based portable device to perform a maintenance procedure comprising multiple sequential operations to be performed on a target device in a distributed computing system having multiple additional devices interconnected via a computer network to a state monitor configured to monitor a current operating state of the target device and the multiple additional devices, the instructions being executable by a processor to cause a computing device to perform a process including:
