Abstract
The present invention is directed to antiviral compositions that provide efficacy against non-envelope viruses such as noroviruses. The composition may be used as a topical on human skin, as a hand sanitizer or as a hard surface cleaning composition.
Claims17
An antiviral concentrate having activity against non-enveloped viruses including norovirus comprising:
- an alkyl 2-hydroxycarboxylic acid comprising
- one or more of 2-hydroxyhexanoic acid, 2 hydroxyoctanoic acid, or 2-hydroxydecanoic add;
- a sulfonated surfactant;
- a C1 to C6 alcohol;
- and
- water;
- wherein the concentrate when diluted with water to form a use solution comprises from about 0.0002% to about 1.75% by weight of the alkyl 2-hydroxycarboxylic acid, from about 0.0002% to about 1.75% by weight of the sulfonated surfactant, and from about 0.05% to about 35% by weight of the C1 to C6 alcohol.
