Abstract
The present invention provides beverages and pharmaceutical compositions containing a deuterated alcohol according to Formula 1, and provides methods for their manufacture and use. The compositions of the invention are expected to ameliorate some of the negative side effects associated with the consumption of alcohol, such as hangover and facial flushing.
Claims16
A method of making a pharmaceutical composition, comprising:
- an active pharmaceutical ingredient and ethanol, comprising the step of combining the active pharmaceutical ingredient with a deuterated alcohol having the formula
- wherein each H may independently be hydrogen or deuterium, in an amount sufficient to produce a composition wherein at least 5 mole percent of the ethanol in the composition is said deuterated alcohol.
