Abstract
A patient-matched cutting block including a surface or point contact features adapted to at least partially conform to or reference a patient specific anatomy. The cutting block having guide slots configured for guiding the movement of cutting tools relative to the patient specific anatomy or features configured to mate to and guide standard cutting guides relative to patient specific anatomy in order to form plateau and eminence resections of the patient specific anatomy.
Claims10
A patient matched cutting block comprising:
- a body having a bone-facing side and an exterior surface, the bone-facing side comprising a surface or point contact feature adapted to at least partially conform to or reference a patient specific anatomy, the bone-facing side is established in pre-surgical planning based on imaging data of the patient specific anatomy;
- at least one guide slot configured for guiding a movement of cutting tools;
- one or more provisional fixation pins, each of the one or more provisional fixation pins including a predetermined length based on the imaging data of the patient specific anatomy;
- and
- one or more apertures configured to receive and guide placement of the one or more provisional fixation pins, respectively;
- wherein each of the one or more apertures contains a position control element configured to contact a shoulder on each of the one or more provisional fixation pins to control a depth of the provisional fixation pins so that, in use, with the provisional fixation pins fully inserted, the provisional fixation pins are arranged and configured to extend adjacent to a posterior side of a patient's tibia without piercing the patient's tibia.
