Cycloidal rotor or propeller with performance and flows optimization

A method for generating lift or propulsive force comprising:

• a) providing a cycloidal rotor with blades mounted on generally non-circular track having track shape changing means for following a corresponding non-circular blade orbit and;
• b) providing a computer control system operatively connected to said track shape changing means, for controlling the blade support means position and operatively connected to actuator means for changing the angle of attack of the blades;
• c) providing drive means for propelling the blades along said track;
• d) propelling the blades along their orbits at a speed suitable for generating lift or propulsive force;
• and
• e) running the computer control system to activate the actuator means to vary the blades' angle of attack in relation to the blade's position along the said track and the track shape changing means to change the track shape until the corresponding blade trajectory is optimal as determined by the said control system or the operator, and in response to control input transmitting desired operating parameters provided by input means, whereby the rotor will produce the desired operating performance in generating lift or propulsion force.
