Communication system for communicating minimum system information

A method performed by a user equipment (UE) for obtaining minimum system information comprising information required for initial access to a radio access network (RAN) of a telecommunication system, wherein the minimum system information comprises at least a first part comprising part of said minimum system information and a second part comprising remaining minimum system information (RMSI), the method comprising:

• receiving at least the first part of the minimum system information via a physical broadcast channel (PBCH);
• receiving, in the first part of the minimum system information, a master information block (MIB) comprising information identifying at least one communication resource within a bandwidth of the PBCH;
• and
• receiving at least the RMSI using the at least one communication resource within the bandwidth of the PBCH identified by the information.

Communication apparatus of a radio access network (RAN) of a telecommunication system, the communication apparatus comprising

• a memory for storing instructions;
• and
• one or more processors configured to execute the instructions to:
• control transmission of minimum system information comprising information required by a user equipment (UE) for initial access, wherein the minimum system information comprises at least a first part comprising part of said minimum system information and a second part comprising remaining minimum system information (RMSI);
• transmit at least the first part of the minimum system information via a physical broadcast channel (PBCH);
• transmit, in the first part of the minimum system information, a master information block (MIB) comprising information identifying at least one communication resource within a bandwidth of the PBCH;
• and
• transmit at least the RMSI using the at least one communication resource within the bandwidth of the PBCH identified by the information.

A user equipment (UE) comprising

• a memory for storing instructions;
• and
• one or more processors configured to execute the instructions to:
• obtain minimum system information comprising information for initial access to a radio access network (RAN) of a telecommunication system, wherein the minimum system information comprises at least a first part comprising part of said minimum system information and a second part comprising remaining minimum system information (RMSI);
• receive at least the first part of the minimum system information via a physical broadcast channel (PBCH);
• receive, in the first part of the minimum system information, a master information block (MIB) comprising information identifying at least one communication resource within a bandwidth of the PBCH;
• and
• receive at least the RMSI using the at least one communication resource within the bandwidth of the PBCH identified by the information.
