Abstract
According to one embodiment, a liquid crystal display comprising a first substrate, a second substrate opposed the first substrate, a liquid crystal layer between the first substrate and the second substrate, a light-shielding layer including a first light-shield formed along a first direction and a second light-shield formed along a second direction and crossing the first light-shield, and a spacer which maintains a gap between the first substrate and the second substrate, the spacer overlapping a crossing region where the first light-shield and the second light-shield cross each other and including an exposed region outside the light-shielding layer in a planar view.
Claims11
A liquid crystal display comprising:
- a first substrate including a control line, a signal line and a first pixel electrode;
- a second substrate opposed to the first substrate and including a color filter overlapping the first substrate and a light-shielding layer including a first light-shield formed along a first direction and a second light-shield formed along a second direction, crossing the first light-shield;
- a liquid crystal layer between the first substrate and the second substrate;
- and
- a spacer which maintains a gap between the first substrate and the second substrate, wherein
- the spacer overlaps a crossing region where the first light-shield and the second light-shield cross each other and includes a first exposed region and a second exposed region,
- the first and second exposed regions are exposed from the light-shielding layer and overlap the color filter in a planar view,
- and a center of the spacer overlaps an exposed region in the planar view.
