Abstract
A delivery device for installing a medical device in a patient comprising a body portion having a proximal end and a distal end, the distal end having a chisel shaped tip, a receptacle disposed in the distal end of the body portion for receiving a medical device for implanting in the patient, a handle disposed at the proximal end of the body portion for facilitating advancement of the proximal end of the body portion into the patient.
Claims20
A method of delivering a lead comprising:
- advancing into a patient a lead for delivering electrical stimuli to a heart including an accelerometer configured to facilitate delivery of the lead to a desired location within a mediastinum of the patient, proximate the heart but not physically in contact with the heart or pericardium;
- and
- determining a location of a distal end of the lead in the patient utilizing the accelerometer, wherein the location is not in the heart or pericardium.
A cardiac pacing system comprising:
- a lead configured to electrically couple with a pulse generator and to transmit therapeutic electric pulses to a patient, the at least one lead comprising:
- at least one accelerometer disposed on the lead and configured to facilitate delivery of the lead to a desired location within a mediastinum of the patient, proximate the heart but not physically in contact with the heart or pericardium;
- at least one programmable processor;
- and
- a non-transitory machine-readable medium storing instructions which, when executed by the at least one programmable processor, cause the at least one programmable processor to perform operations comprising:
- determining a location of a distal end of the lead in the patient utilizing the accelerometer, wherein the location is not in the heart or pericardium.
