Abstract
Interchangeable luggage perimeters are disclosed. Example interchangeable luggage perimeters may comprise an interchangeable base element adapted to securely and releasably couple with exchangeable components such as exchangeable foot pads, exchangeable wheels, or exchangeable handles. The interchangeable base element may be interchangeable by having a configuration supporting repositioning of the interchangeable base element at multiple different edges of a luggage piece, e.g., any of at least two or four edges of a luggage piece.
Claims13
An interchangeable luggage perimeter, comprising:
- an interchangeable base element comprising:
- a base element outer surface and a base element inner surface, wherein the base element outer surface and the base element inner surface comprise parallel surfaces each having substantially a base element width and substantially a base element length, and wherein the base element outer surface and the base element inner surface are separated by a base element thickness;
- wherein the base element width is less than the base element length, and wherein the base element thickness is less than half of the base element width;
- and
- an exchangeable component interface within the interchangeable base element and adapted to securely and releasably couple with exchangeable components, wherein the exchangeable component interface comprises:
- a shaped depression in the base element outer surface, wherein the shaped depression has shape adapted to match an exchangeable component shape, and wherein the shaped depression comprises a substantially rectangular groove extending around a center island, wherein the center island is adapted to match a center depression in the one or more exchangeable components;
- and
- at least one interface releasable coupling means adapted to releasably couple with component releasable coupling means on the exchangeable components.
An interchangeable luggage perimeter, comprising:
- an interchangeable base element that can be repositioned at multiple different edges of a luggage piece, the base element comprising a base element outer surface and a base element inner surface, wherein the base element outer surface and the base element inner surface comprise parallel surfaces each having substantially a base element width and substantially a base element length, and wherein the base element outer surface and the base element inner surface are separated by a base element thickness;
- wherein the base element comprises a corner element adapted to protect a corner formed by three adjacent edges of the luggage piece;
- wherein
- the base element outer surface and the base element inner surface bend to form two legs extending perpendicularly from one another, so that the corner element can be repositioned to extend over a first edge of the three adjacent edges of the luggage piece, with each of the two legs extending away from the first edge of the luggage piece;
- and
- a corner bead protective lip extends from a single side of the corner element and along at least a portion of a length of each of the two legs, the corner bead protective lip extending over the corner of the luggage piece as well as over portions of a second and a third edge of the three adjacent edges of the luggage piece;
- at least two exchangeable component interfaces within the interchangeable base element and adapted to securely and releasably couple with exchangeable components, wherein at least one of the exchangeable component interfaces comprises:
- a substantially rectangular shaped depression in the base element outer surface, wherein a depth of the substantially rectangular shaped depression is less than the base element thickness, and wherein the substantially rectangular shaped depression has a substantially rectangular shape adapted to fit any of multiple different substantially rectangular shaped exchangeable components;
- and
- at least one interface releasable coupling means within the substantially rectangular shaped depression and adapted to releasably couple with component releasable coupling means on the exchangeable components.
A luggage perimeter with multiple exchangeable component interfaces, comprising:
- an interchangeable base element that can be repositioned at multiple different edges of a luggage piece, the base element comprising a base element outer surface and a base element inner surface, wherein the base element outer surface and the base element inner surface comprise parallel surfaces each having substantially a base element width and substantially a base element length, and wherein the base element outer surface and the base element inner surface are separated by a base element thickness;
- wherein the base element comprises two or more exchangeable component interfaces, wherein each of the two or more exchangeable component interfaces is adapted to securely and releasably couple with any of multiple different exchangeable components, the multiple different exchangeable components comprising at least an exchangeable foot pad;
- wherein each of the two or more exchangeable component interfaces comprises:
- a substantially rectangular shaped depression in the base element outer surface, wherein a depth of the substantially rectangular shaped depression is less than the base element thickness, and wherein the substantially rectangular shaped depression has a substantially rectangular shape adapted to fit any of multiple different substantially rectangular shaped exchangeable components;
- and
- at least one interface releasable coupling means within the substantially rectangular shaped depression and adapted to releasably couple with component releasable coupling means on the exchangeable components.
