Determining a reference dose parameter of a computed tomography imaging

A parameter determination unit comprising:

• an interface, embodied to receive a topogram of an examination volume;
• and
• a computer unit, embodied to
• determine a water equivalent diameter of a slice plane of the examination volume based upon the topogram,
• determine a noise level based on the water equivalent diameter, the noise level being an upper threshold value for noise of a CT image dataset, and
• determine a reference dose parameter corresponding to a first x-ray dose, absorbable in a slice plane during a recording of a first CT image dataset of the examination volume upon noise of the first CT image dataset corresponding to the noise level determined, wherein the computer unit is further embodied to compare the reference dose parameter determined, with an actual dose parameter of a real computed tomography examination of the examination volume, to assess or rate quality of the real computed tomography examination.

A method for determining a reference dose parameter of computed tomography (CT) imaging, comprising:

• determining, via at least one processor, a water equivalent diameter of a slice plane of an examination volume based on a topogram of the examination volume of a patient;
• determining, via at least one processor, a noise level based on the water equivalent diameter, the noise level being an upper threshold value for noise of a CT image dataset;
• and
• determining based on the noise level determined and the water equivalent diameter determined, via the at least one processor, a reference dose parameter, corresponding to a first x-ray dose, absorbable in the slice plane during a recording of a first CT image dataset of the examination volume, upon noise of the first CT image dataset corresponding to the noise level determined, wherein the reference dose parameter is usable to determine a size-specific dose estimation, for subsequent adjustment of x-ray radiation of an x-ray tube of a computed tomography device used in the CT imaging.

A parameter determination unit comprising:

• at least one processor, embodied to
• determine a water equivalent diameter of a slice plane of an examination volume based on a topogram of the examination volume of a patient;
• determine a noise level based on the water equivalent diameter, the noise level being an upper threshold value for noise of a CT image dataset, and
• determine based on the noise level determined and the water equivalent diameter determined, a reference dose parameter, corresponding to a first x-ray dose, absorbable in a slice plane during a recording of a first CT image dataset of the examination volume, upon noise of the first CT image dataset corresponding to the noise level determined, wherein the at least one processor is further embodied to determine a size-specific dose estimation, for subsequent adjustment of x-ray radiation of an x-ray tube of a computed tomography device used in the CT imaging.
