Abstract
The present invention provides a low-phosphorus polyamide compound and a process for preparing such a polyamide.
Claims10
A low-color polyamide comprising:
- a phosphorus-containing compound, wherein the phosphorus-containing compound contains 25 to 50 ppm of phosphorus and 1,200 to 1,800 ppm of a carboxylic acid,
- where the polyamide has a yellowness index (YI) of −4 to −9,
- where the polyamide has a relative viscosity (RV) range of 40 to 80, and
- where an amount of phosphorous greater than 50 ppm increases the probability of phosphate plate out in equipment used to prepare or process the polyamide.
