Speaker system such as a sound bar assembly having improved sound quality

A speaker system comprising:

• An injection molded front panel having inner and outer surfaces and an outer boundary mating portion formed on the perimeter of the front panel, the front panel having a first sound opening at a first end and a second sound opening at a second end, wherein the front panel is formed as a unitary molded part from a thermoplastic;
• an injection molded back panel having inner and outer surfaces and first and second ends and an outer boundary mating portion formed on the perimeter of the back panel, mateable in a sealed relation with the outer boundary mating portion of the front panel to form an outer boundary, wherein mating portions of the front and back panels are joined together to form an outer boundary, wherein the first and second ends of the front and back panels, when joined, each house a speaker unit having a first frequency range, the first and second ends being interconnected by an elongated section that separates the sound openings, wherein the back panel is formed as a unitary molded part from a thermoplastic;
• wherein the front panel comprises first and second depressions at its first and second ends, respectively, each of the depressions housing a speaker unit having a second frequency range different from the first frequency range;
• and
• wherein the first and second depressions are defined by bottom and side walls which separate the speaker units having a second frequency range from the speaker units having a first frequency range.
