Abstract
A surveillance system and method for providing communication between wireless input capture devices, such as cameras. The system has multiple capture devices configured to capture video and/or still images of a target environment. The system can detect events, notify users, and provide data to a user upon request. Capture devices are capable of smart cross-communication with each other and/or a base system.

A system, comprising:
- a first capture device configured to capture first input data from a target environment, wherein the first input data includes video, audio, still images, and/or motion;
- and
- a second capture device configured to be in direct wireless communication with the first capture device and a wireless device, and wherein the second capture device is configured to capture second input data that includes video, audio, still images, and/or motion;
- wherein the first capture device, the second capture device, and/or the wireless device includes one or more processors and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the system to:
- sense motion in the target environment based, at least in part, on the first input data and one or more settings from an operator;
- communicate instructions from the first capture device to the second capture device based, at least in part, on the sensed motion, wherein the instructions from the first capture device cause the second capture device to adjust at least one of a frame rate or resolution, and wherein the instructions from the first capture device include a status signal ensuring a throughput for the second capture device to monitor the motion;
- capture, at the second capture device, second input data using the at least one adjusted frame rate and/or resolution,
- send a notification of the sensed motion to a remote server computer, and
- provide at least an image associated with the sensed motion to the remote server computer, wherein the image is captured by one of the first and second capture devices;
- wherein the system is configured to perform learned pattern analysis by comparing input characteristics of the first capture device of the second capture device with reference information and learned information.

A system, comprising:
- a first capture device configured to capture first input data that includes video, audio, still images, and/or motion, wherein the first capture device is configured for wireless communication with at least one of a wireless device, and a second capture device configured to capture second input data,
- wherein the wireless device and/or at least one of the first capture device or the second capture device includes one or more processors and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the first capture device to:
- set one or more settings based, at least in part, on operator input, and
- sense motion in a target environment based, at least in part, on the one or more settings,
- wherein the system is configured to:
- in response to sensing the motion, generate at least one instruction based on the first input data,
- establish bi-directional communication between the first capture device and the second capture device,
- send a notification of the sensed motion to a remote server computer,
- control operation of the second capture device based, at least in part, on the at least one instruction such that the second capture device captures second input data based, at least in part, on the at least one instruction, wherein the at least one instruction causes the second capture device to adjust the at least one of a frame rate or resolution, and wherein the at least one instruction includes a status signal including a throughput for the second capture device to monitor the motion, and
- present, via the first capture device and/or the wireless device, at least a portion of the captured second input data to the remote server computer;
- wherein the system is configured to perform learned pattern analysis by comparing input characteristics of the first capture device of the second capture device with reference information and learned information.
