Electronic control unit

An electronic control unit comprising:

• a memory configured to save a program that includes a call from a function and a return to the function respectively represented by and extractable as a control flow in the program, together with a check instruction inserted in a program code of the program for checking whether the program code is executable based on the extracted control flow;
• an input unit configured to receive an input of use frequency information indicative of a use frequency of the function;
• a measurement unit configured to measure a load of the electronic control unit;
• an execution object determiner configured to determine execution of the check instruction based on the use frequency information and the load;
• and
• an arithmetic unit configured to execute the check instruction as determined by the execution object determiner at a time of execution of the program.
