Abstract
Disclosed in certain embodiments is an ice-phobic coating formulation comprising an elastomer, filler particles, and a cryoprotectant.
Claims18
An ice-phobic coating formed by curing a solventless coating formulation comprising:
- an elastomer;
- nanoparticles present in an amount from 1 wt % to 5 wt % based on a total weight of the solventless coating formulation;
- and
- a cryoprotectant present in an amount from 1 wt % to 3 wt % based on the total weight of the solventless coating formulation.

An ice-phobic coating formulation comprising:
- an elastomer;
- PTFE nanoparticles present from 1 wt % to 5 wt % based on a total weight of the formulation;
- and
- a cryoprotectant present in an amount from 1 wt % to 3 wt % based on the total weight of the formulation.

A method of forming an ice-phobic coating, the method comprising:
- spraying a formulation onto a surface, the formulation comprising:
- an elastomer;
- nanoparticles present in an amount from 1 wt % to 5 wt % based on a total weight of the formulation;
- and
- glycerol present in an amount from 1 wt % to 3 wt % based on the total weight of the formulation;
- and
- allowing the formulation to cure to form the ice-phobic coating.
