Abstract
Porous calcium lactate metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) comprise non-toxic metal ions—Ca(II) and non-toxic, renewable and cheap linkers—lactate and acetate. The MOFs are nontoxic and environmentally-benign, and can be used as degradable carriers.
Claims18
A Ca2+-based metal-organic framework (MOF) composition comprising chelating L-lactate and acetate, the MOF of formula:
- [Ca14(L-lactate)(16-24) (Acetate)(12-4)] or [Ca6(L-lactate)(2-4) (acetate)(10-8)], wherein the lactate and acetate sum to 28 and 12, respectively.
