Priming neuromodulation for faster therapeutic response

A system for delivering neuromodulation, comprising:

• electrodes;
• a neuromodulation generator configured to:
• generate a first modulation field over a region of neural tissue using the electrodes and first fractionalized current values for the electrodes;
• and
• generate a second modulation field using the electrodes and second fractionalized current values for the electrodes;
• and
• a controller configured to control the generation of the first and second modulation fields such that the first modulation field is generated for at least a portion of a time when the second modulation field is generated, to control the first fractionalized current values and the second fractionalized current values, and to adjust the second fractionalized current values to focus the second modulation field on each location of a plurality of locations within the region of neural tissue,
• wherein the first fractionalized current values and the second fractionalized values each include current values individually programmable for different fractions of a total current for the electrodes, the different fractions each applied to an electrode of the electrodes.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium including instructions, which when executed by a system, cause the system to perform a method for delivering neuromodulation, the method comprising:

• generating a first modulation field over a region of neural tissue for a first period of time using electrodes and first fractionalized current values for the electrodes;
• generating a second modulation field for a second period of time using the electrodes and second fractionalized current values for the electrodes;
• and
• adjusting the second fractionalized current values to focus the second modulation field on each location of a plurality of locations within the region of neural tissue,
• wherein the first period of time and the second period of time at least partially overlap, and the first fractionalized current values and the second fractionalized values each include current values individually programmable for different fractions of a total current for the electrodes, the different fractions each applied to an electrode of the electrodes.
