Abstract
Disclosed is a cage which is inserted between vertebral bodies of a cervical vertebra or spine during an operation for treating a cervical disc disease, myelosis, or fracture of the cervical vertebra or spine, and more particularly, to a cage with spikes, including upper and lower spikes which are attached to a clip inserted into a main body of the cage, unfolded upward and downward from the main body, and locked to vertebral bodies of a cervical vertebra or spine positioned at the top and bottom of the cage such that the cage is fixed and locked between the vertebral bodies.

A system including cage that is placed between vertebral bodies of a cervical vertebra or spine, the system comprising:
- a cage including a main body formed in a hexahedral shape having a top surface, both side surfaces, a front surface, a bottom surface, and a rear surface;
- a clip operated to be inserted into the main body through the front face;
- an upper spike pivotably coupled to the clip via a clip coupling pin and unfolded to protrude to the outside of the top surface of the main body through the insertion of the clip;
- a lower spike pivotably coupled to the clip via the clip coupling pin and unfolded to protrude to the outside of the bottom surface of the main body through the insertion of the clip;
- and
- a guide block coupled to the main body to guide the insertion of the clip into the cage by an insertion instrument for implanting the cage between the vertebral bodies.
A system including an insertion mechanism for inserting a cage, the system comprising:
- a cage including:
- a main body formed in a hexahedral shape having a top surface, both side surfaces, a front surface, a bottom surface, and a rear surface;
- a clip operated to be inserted into the main body through the front face;
- an upper spike pivotably coupled to the clip via a clip coupling pin and unfolded to protrude to the outside of the top surface of the main body through the insertion of the clip;
- a lower spike pivotably coupled to the clip via a clip coupling pin and unfolded to protrude to the outside of the bottom surface of the main body through the insertion of the clip;
- and
- a guide block coupled to the main body so as to guide the insertion of the clip;
- and the insertion mechanism including:
- a head fastened to the guide block;
- a first lower support rod having one side coupled to the left side of the head;
- a second lower support rod having one side coupled to the right side of the head;
- and
- a push stick formed between the first and second lower support rods to push the clip into the main body.
A system comprising:
- a cage for insertion between two vertebral bodes, the cage including:
- a main body formed in a hexahedral shape having a top surface, both side surfaces, a front surface, a bottom surface, and a rear surface;
- a clip operated to be inserted into the main body through the front face;
- an upper spike pivotably coupled to the clip via a clip coupling pin and configured to protrude out of a top surface of the main body upon insertion of the clip;
- a lower spike pivotably coupled to the clip via a clip coupling pin and configured to protrude out of a bottom surface of the main body upon insertion of the clip;
- and
- a guide block coupled to the main body to guide insertion of the clip;
- and
- the insertion mechanism including:
- a head couplable to the guide block;
- a first lower support rod coupled to a left side of the head;
- a second lower support rod coupled to a right side of the head;
- and
- a push stick formed between the first and second lower support rods to push the clip into the main body.
