Display system and method

A system for improving a patient's vision, comprising:

• a. means for diagnosing and monitoring a deterioration in macular vision or macular vision loss in a patient's eye, comprising means for testing and mapping a retina by scanning the retina, and
• b. means for augmenting the use of a preferred retinal location (PRL) and eccentric fixation in case the deterioration in macular vision or macular vision loss was detected;
• wherein the diagnosing and monitoring means, and the augmenting means, further including means for applying a focalized stimulus to one location on the retina at a time;
• and wherein the applying means further including eye tracker means for measuring a gazing direction of the patient's eye and means for changing the location of the focalized stimulus accordingly, so as to keep the stimulus on the same location on the retina.
