Industrial electronic badge

A system comprising:

• a case that is attachable to, and detachable from an electronic mobile device, the case comprising:
• a first transceiver;
• an information feedback device;
• and
• an electronic badge interface that couples to a case interface of the electronic mobile device;
• and
• an electronic mobile device that can be worn or otherwise transported by an industrial vehicle operator, the electronic badge comprising:
• a housing;
• a display;
• a processor;
• memory coupled to the processor, the memory storing program code to carry out an observation and feedback application;
• and
• the case interface;
• wherein:
• when the mobile device is installed in the case:
• the first transceiver coupled to the processor that communicates on a first personal-area network with other electronic badges responsive to encountering the other electronic badges in proximity thereto, wherein the first transceiver also communicates with a badge communicator that is provided on an industrial vehicle when the electronic badge and the badge communicator are in range of each other;
• and
• the information feedback device is controlled by the processor to activate to provide information to the user that feedback has been either given or received, wherein the electronic badge exchanges information with the industrial vehicle in a vehicle operator mode where the electronic badge is coupled to the industrial vehicle;
• and the information feedback device is operated by the processor in response to the processor executing the observation and feedback application and in response to the processor interacting with first transceiver.
