Systems and methods for re-ranking ranked search results

A system to re-rank ranked search results, comprising:

• at least one processor;
• memory;
• and
• at least one program stored in the memory and executable by the at least one processor, the at least one program comprising instructions to:
• obtain ranked search results satisfying a search query, the ranked search results including a first search result corresponding to a first document associated with a first entity and a second search result corresponding to a second document associated with a second entity, the first search result being ranked higher than the second search result;
• determine that the first document and the second document satisfy a similarity criterion;
• determine that the second entity satisfies a predefined authorship differential with respect to the first entity, including:
• determining an original author score for the first entity, wherein the original author score corresponds to a percentage of content associated with the first entity that is a first instance of the content in an index of known content,
• determining an original author score for the second entity, wherein the original author score corresponds to a percentage of content associated with the second entity that is a first instance of the content in the index of known content, and
• determining the differential as a difference between the original author score for the first entity to the original author score for the second entity;
• and
• responsive to determining that the second entity satisfies the predefined authorship differential with respect to the first entity, swap the second search result and the first search result in the ranked search results to produce re-ranked search results.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, cause a search system to perform operations including:

• obtaining ranked search results satisfying a search query, the ranked search results including a first search result corresponding to a first document associated with a first website and a second search result corresponding to a second document associated with a second website, the first search result being ranked higher than the second search result;
• determining an original content score for the first website, wherein the original content score corresponds to a percentage of a plurality of portions of content associated with the first website that are first instances of the content in an index of known content;
• determining an original content score for the second website, wherein the original content score corresponds to a percentage of a plurality of portions of content associated with the second website that are first instances of the content in the index of known content;
• determining that a difference between the original content score for the second website and the original content score for the first website satisfies a predetermined threshold;
• responsive to determining that the difference satisfies the predetermined threshold, swapping the second search result and the first search result in the ranked search results to produce re-ranked search results;
• and
• providing the re-ranked search results as a response to the search query.
