Abstract
A system for conflict resolution in a multi-user design package includes a host computer having a memory and a processor, wherein the host computer is configured to operate a multi-user CAx environment, and is configured to receive edit commands from a plurality of local computers. A conflict resolution module is configured to be executed by the host computer, and the conflict resolution module is configured to prevent implementation of conflicting edit commands received from the plurality of local computers in the multi-user CAx environment.
Claims6
A method for resolving conflicting edits in a multi-user CAx environment comprising:
- receiving edits originating from a plurality of local computers at a host computer operating a multi-user CAx environment, wherein each of the local computers is operating a local CAx environment within the multi-user CAx environment;
- preventing implementation of conflicting edits using a conflict resolution module in said multi-user CAx environment by using a first in first out conflict resolution procedure wherein said first in first out conflict resolution procedure creates a temporary file in response to receiving the edits, storing the results of the edits in the temporary file, and allowing one or more users to perform one of an approve action or a modify action based on the results of the edits;
- and
- implementing non-conflicting edits to a part file using said multi-user CAx environment.
