Storage system and method of storage system for constructing system

A storage system comprising:

• one or more storage device units;
• and
• a controller unit,
• wherein the controller unit includes:
• a plurality of initiator ports, and
• a storage controller connected to the initiator ports,
• wherein each of the one or more storage device units includes:
• one or more storage devices, and
• a switch device having a plurality of switch ports including one or more switch ports each connected to the one or more storage devices and one or more switch ports each connected to the initiator ports, and configured to relay communications in accordance with a communication interface, the communication interface specifying a number of master devices allowed to exist in a same domain,
• wherein the one or more storage device units are connected, via the switch ports of the switch device thereof, to the initiator ports, and
• wherein the storage controller is programmed to execute a system construction process including:
• acquiring, via each of the plurality of initiator ports, an ID of a respective storage device unit, of the one or more storage device units, connected to a corresponding one of the initiator ports;
• determining a system configuration based on a port ID relationship representing a relationship between the plurality of initiator ports and a plurality of the IDs acquired via each of the plurality of initiator ports;
• determining, for each of the one or more storage device units, a respective issue port among the initiator ports connected to a same corresponding one of the one or more storage device units in accordance with the determined system configuration;
• and
• performing switch setting, for each of the one or more storage device units, in accordance with the determined system configuration by transmitting a respective configuration change command via the respective issue port.
