Abstract
A breath sensor apparatus for detecting the presence of a compound in an exhaled gas sample, the apparatus comprising a chamber for retaining a gas sample, the chamber defining a gas inlet and a gas outlet, a sensor inside the chamber for analyzing the gas sample, an airflow disrupting element disposed proximate to the sensor to affect the airflow near the device, and an airflow reducing element disposed over the gas outlet to increase the retention time of the gas sample within the chamber.
Claims11
A breath testing apparatus comprising:
- a chamber configured to retain a gas sample, a gas inlet in fluid communication with the chamber, and a gas outlet in fluid communication with the chamber;
- a sensor disposed within the chamber, and in fluid communication with the gas inlet and the gas outlet;
- and an airflow disrupting element disposed within the chamber and sufficiently close to the sensor to change the velocity of air flowing over a surface of the sensor, wherein the airflow disrupting element occupies 95% or less of the cross-sectional area of the chamber and is in fluid communication with the gas inlet, the gas outlet, and the sensor, wherein the sensor comprises boron-doped tungsten oxide.
