A tubing hanger assembly for suspending a tubing string within a wellbore, comprising:
- a tubing head having an upper end and a lower end, wherein the upper end comprises a flange having a plurality of radially disposed ports, and wherein the tubing head defines a central bore having a conical surface;
- a tubing hanger configured to reside along the central bore of the tubing head over the wellbore, and to connect to and support the tubing string, wherein the tubing hanger comprises:
- a generally tubular body having an upper end, a lower end and an outer diameter, with the outer diameter having a beveled surface configured to land on and to be gravitationally supported by the conical surface of the tubing head;
- a central bore extending from the upper end to the lower end;
- and
- a first through-opening extending through the tubular body from the upper end to the lower end, and configured to receive a line therethrough;
- a tubing head adapter configured to reside over the tubing head and over the tubing hanger, the tubing head adapter comprising:
- a body having an upper end, a lower end, and an outer diameter, with the outer diameter having a conical surface;
- a central bore extending from the upper end of the tubing head adapter to the lower end;
- and
- a first auxiliary hole extending through the body of the tubing head adapter, the first auxiliary hole having an open top end in the body of the tubing head adapter and an open bottom end located in the lower end of the tubing head adapter, and configured to receive the line therethrough when the first auxiliary hole is aligned with the first through-opening of the tubing hanger;
- wherein the tubing head adapter may be rotated during assembly to place the first auxiliary hole in alignment with the first through-opening of the tubing hanger;
- and
- a bottom rotating flange defining a tubular body having a central bore dimensioned to rotatably receive the body of the tubing head adapter, and a plurality of ports radially placed around the central bore, wherein the central bore includes a beveled surface dimensioned to land on the conical surface along the outer diameter of the tubing head adapter when the body of the tubing head adapter is received within said central bore;
- wherein the bottom rotating flange is position able on the tubing head adapter such that, when mounted on the tubing head adapter, the bottom rotating flange can be rotated independently of the tubing head adapter with the beveled surface of the central bore rotating on the conical surface of the tubing head adapter such that the conical surface serves as a bearing surface, and further wherein such rotation of the bottom rotating flange during assembly serves to align the ports in the bottom rotating flange with the ports in the tubing head, without rotation of the tubing head adapter, such that threaded connectors can be secured within the aligned ports in order to secure the bottom rotating flange and the tubing head adapter to the tubing head after the first auxiliary hole of the tubing head adapter has been aligned with the first through-opening of the tubing hanger.
