Automatic frequency band selection using infrastructure-enabled beaconing

At least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium including instructions which, when executed, cause at least one processor to at least:

• process information regarding an availability of a medical body area network communication frequency spectrum to generate a first configuration message for a medical body area network;
• transmit the first configuration message to a medical body area network to set a first frequency band or a second frequency band for communication in the medical body area network based on a first location of the medical body area network and the availability of the medical body area network communication frequency spectrum, wherein the first frequency band includes the second frequency band;
• and
• generate, in response to receiving a) a change in location of the medical body area network to a second location and b) updated information regarding the availability of the medical body area network communication frequency spectrum, a second configuration message to the medical body area network to set the first frequency band or the second frequency band for communication in the medical body area network.

A method to coordinate medical body area network operations in a healthcare facility, the method comprising:

• processing, by executing an instruction using at least one processor, information regarding an availability of a medical body area network communication frequency spectrum to generate a first configuration message for a medical body area network;
• transmitting, by executing an instruction using the at least one processor, the first configuration message to a medical body area network to set a first frequency band or a second frequency band for communication in the medical body area network based on a first location of the medical body area network and the availability of the medical body area network communication frequency spectrum, wherein the first frequency band includes the second frequency band;
• and
• generating, by executing an instruction using the at least one processor in response to receiving a) a change in location of the medical body area network to a second location and b) updated information regarding the availability of the medical body area network communication frequency spectrum, a second configuration message to the medical body area network to set the first frequency band or the second frequency band for communication in the medical body area network.
