Abstract
Combined methods for treating a patient using time-varying magnetic field are described. The treatment methods combine various approaches for aesthetic treatment. The methods are focused on enhancing a visual appearance of the patient.
Claims30
A method for treating a patient, the method comprising the steps of:
- providing a current to a first magnetic field generating device to generate a first time-varying magnetic field, wherein the first time-varying magnetic field comprises an impulse duration in a range between 3 μs and 10000 μs and a magnetic flux density in a range between 0.1 Tesla and 7 Tesla;
- providing a current to a second magnetic field generating device to generate a second time-varying magnetic field with an impulse duration in a range between 3 μs and 10000 μs and a magnetic flux density in a range between 0.1 Tesla and 7 Tesla;
- applying the first and second time-varying magnetic fields to muscle fibers, neuromuscular plates, or peripheral nerves innervating muscle fibers within a body region of the patient such that a muscle is caused to contract;
- and
- cooling adipose cells within the body region of the patient with a cooling element having a temperature of between 20° C. and −20° C.;
- wherein the step of applying the first and second time-varying magnetic fields further comprises:
- generating a plurality of bursts including at least one first burst and at least one second burst, each burst having a duration, wherein each of said bursts includes:
- (i) a train of magnetic pulses configured to cause a muscle contraction by the patient, (ii) a time period without generating a magnetic field that is configured to cause muscle contraction by the patient, wherein the time period follows the train of magnetic pulses;
- applying the at least one first burst to muscle fibers, neuromuscular plates, or peripheral nerves innervating muscle fibers within the body region of the patient, wherein each said first burst comprises a first train of magnetic pulses having a duration in a range between 1 seconds and 15 seconds and a repetition rate in a range between 1 Hz and 100 Hz;
- applying the at least one second burst to muscle fibers, neuromuscular plates, or peripheral nerves innervating muscle fibers within the body region of the patient, wherein each said second burst comprises a second train of magnetic pulses having a duration in a range between 1 seconds and 15 seconds and a repetition rate in a range between 2 Hz and 90 Hz;
- and
- wherein the at least one first burst differs from the at least one second burst by at least one treatment parameter selected from a group consisting of the magnetic flux density, the repetition rate of the magnetic pulses, a duration of the burst, and a duration of the train.

A method for treating at least one body region of a patient, the method comprising the steps of:
- placing an applicator comprising a magnetic field generating device in contact with patient's skin;
- attaching the applicator to the at least one body region of the patient via a flexible belt;
- generating, by the magnetic field generating device, a time-varying magnetic field, wherein the time-varying magnetic field comprises a magnetic flux density in a range between 0.1 Tesla and 7 Tesla and a plurality of magnetic pulses with a repetition rate in a range between 1 Hz and 300 Hz;
- applying the time-varying magnetic field to muscle fibers, neuromuscular plates, or peripheral nerves innervating muscle fibers within the at least one body region of the patient such that a muscle is caused to contract;
- and
- cooling adipose cells within the at least one body region of the patient with a cooling element having a temperature in a range between 20° C. and −20° C.;
- wherein the step of applying further comprises:
- modulating the plurality of magnetic pulses of the time-varying magnetic field into at least one train of magnetic pulses, each said train of magnetic pulses lasting for a time period in a range between 1 second and 30 seconds;
- applying the at least one train of magnetic pulses to the muscle fibers, neuromuscular plates, or peripheral nerves innervating muscle fibers within the at least one body region of the patient such that the muscle is caused to contract;
- and
- establishing a burst by generating no pulses of the time-varying magnetic field for a time period lasting in a range between 1 second and 30 seconds after applying a last magnetic pulse of the at least one train of magnetic pulses.
