Method to identify asian soybean rust resistance quantitative trait loci in soybean and compositions thereof

A method of creating a population of soybean plants having Asian Soybean Rust (ASR) resistance locus 16, said method comprising:

• genotyping one or more soybean plants from a first population containing said ASR resistance locus 16 for a molecular marker within 10 centimorgans or less from a resistance allele of a SNP marker selected from the group consisting of NS0113966 and NS0118536;
• selecting from said one or more soybean plants at least one soybean plant identified as containing said ASR resistance locus 16;
• and
• producing from said at least one soybean plant a second population, thereby creating a population of soybean plants comprising said ASR resistance locus 16.
