Systems, methods and apparatus for managing machine-to-machine (M2M) entities

A machine-to-machine (“M2M”) server comprising circuitry, including a receiver, transmitter, a processor and memory, configured to:

• receive, from a M2M application, a first request targeting a first resource of a first resource type, wherein the first resource type is configured for facilitating execution of a function in connection with a client M2M device, and wherein the first request comprises information for instantiating a sub-resource of the first resource;
• send to the M2M application a first response to the first request, wherein the first response comprises an acknowledgment and a reference to use for retrieval of any of a status and a result of an execution of the function;
• autonomously create a second resource of a second resource type, wherein the second resource type is configured for storing any of the status and the result separate from the first resource, wherein the second resource comprises a plurality of resource elements, including one or more resource elements for storing any of the status and the result, and wherein the reference corresponds to one or more of the plurality of resource elements;
• access any of the first resource and sub-resource of the first resource to obtain any of the status and the result;
• store any of the obtained status and the obtained result in the one or more resource elements of the second resource;
• receive, from the M2M application, a second request including the reference;
• and
• send a second response to the M2M application, wherein the second response includes any of the obtained status and the obtained result extracted from the one or more resource elements.
