A method for operating end-user hardware including one or more motion sensor units (MSUs), the method including:
- receiving an authoring interface from one or more servers, the authoring interface enabling a user to define a challenge for participants including the user, wherein the challenge is to be attempted by the user with the end-user hardware including the one or more MSUs,
- via the authoring interface, providing a challenge data set for the challenge, the challenge data set includes data representative of:
- (i) a challenge location;
- (ii) one or more challenge skills;
- and
- (iii) one or more competitive parameters for one or more attributes of the one or more challenge skills;
- via the authoring interface, sending the challenge to the one or more servers;
- sending a participant location of the user to the one or more servers;
- receiving a participant interface from the one or more servers, the participant interface enabling the user to select the challenge;
- via the participant interface, selecting the challenge and sending the selection to the one or more servers;
- enabling the end-user hardware including the one or more MSUs to participate in the challenge, comprising:
- (i) causing the end-user hardware to apply configuration data for the one or more challenge skills;
- and
- (ii) sending performance data derived from the one or more MSUs or an assessment of the performance data to the one or more servers;
- and
- via the participant interface, receiving a rating of the user among the participants of the challenge.
