Abstract
A system includes a sensor configured to sense physiological information from a subject, and a signal processor configured to process signals from the sensor into a serial data stream of physiological information and sensor performance information. An electronic device having a display is configured to receive the serial data stream and display the physiological information simultaneously with the sensor performance information via the display.
Claims20
A method of presenting data from a sensor that is monitoring a subject and/or an environment in a vicinity of the subject, wherein the sensor is in communication with at least one processor, the method comprising:
- obtaining a sensor metric from the sensor, wherein the sensor metric comprises an identifier of a type of measurement performed by the sensor and a value of the measurement;
- and
- producing, via the at least one processor, a serial data stream comprising the sensor metric, dynamically updated integrity information about the sensor metric, and statistical information about the sensor metric, wherein the dynamically updated sensor metric integrity information is generated in real time by an algorithm executed by the at least one processor to measure a signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio of the sensor metric,
- transmitting the serial data stream to an electronic device via a communication protocol, wherein the serial data stream is configured such that a program operating on the electronic device can display the sensor metric with the dynamically updated sensor metric integrity information and the sensor metric statistical information via a display associated with the electronic device,
- wherein the communication protocol comprises a plurality of sensor events, and
- wherein a sensor event of the plurality of sensor events comprises the sensor metric and the dynamically updated integrity information about the sensor metric.
A method of presenting physiological information, the method comprising:
- receiving sensor data at an electronic device from a remote physiological sensor that is in communication with the electronic device, wherein the sensor data is in the form of a serial data stream that comprises a sensor metric, dynamically updated integrity information about the sensor metric, and statistical information about the sensor metric, wherein the sensor metric comprises an identifier of a type of measurement performed by the sensor and a value of the measurement, wherein the dynamically updated sensor metric integrity information is generated in real time by the remote physiological sensor;
- and
- displaying the sensor metric with the dynamically updated sensor metric integrity information and the sensor metric statistical information via a display of the electronic device,
- wherein the serial data stream is received via a communication protocol comprising a series of sensor events from the remote physiological sensor, and
- wherein at least one of the sensor events comprises the sensor metric and the dynamically updated integrity information about the sensor metric.
A system, comprising:
- a sensor configured to sense physiological information from a subject;
- and
- at least one signal processor configured to process signals from the sensor into a serial data stream comprising a sensor metric, dynamically updated integrity information about the sensor metric, and statistical information about the sensor metric, wherein the dynamically updated sensor metric integrity information is generated in real time by an algorithm executed by the at least one signal processor to measure a signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio of the sensor metric, wherein the sensor metric comprises an identifier of a type of physiological measurement performed by the sensor and a value of the measurement,
- wherein the processor is further configured to communicate the serial data stream via a communication protocol comprising a series of sensor events, and
- wherein at least one of the sensor events comprises the sensor metric and the dynamically updated integrity information about the sensor metric.
A system, comprising:
- a sensor configured to sense environmental information;
- and
- at least one signal processor configured to process signals from the sensor into a serial data stream comprising a sensor metric, dynamically updated integrity information about the sensor metric, and statistical information about the sensor metric, wherein the dynamically updated sensor metric integrity information is generated in real time by an algorithm executed by the at least one signal processor to measure a signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio of the sensor metric, wherein the sensor metric comprises an identifier of a type of environmental measurement performed by the sensor and a value of the measurement,
- wherein the processor is further configured to communicate the serial data stream via a communication protocol comprising a series of sensor events, and
- wherein at least one of the sensor events comprises the sensor metric and the dynamically updated integrity information about the sensor metric.
