System and method for wireless network performance measurement and management using remote devices

A system for wireless network performance measurement and management using remote devices, comprising:

• a central analysis and control server comprising at least a plurality of programming instructions stored in a memory and operating on a processor of a network-connected computing device;
• a mobile wireless device comprising at least a processor and a memory;
• and
• a wireless network testing software application stored in the memory and operating on the processor of the mobile wireless device;
• wherein the central analysis and control server:
• receives result data of wireless network service quality testing performed by the mobile wireless device;
• and
• analyzes the received result data using pre-determined transformations to determine an indicia of wireless network service quality;
• wherein the mobile wireless device:
• is routinely operated by a user associated with an enterprise;
• performs wireless network service quality tests using the wireless network testing software application on a wireless network;
• performs at least one wireless network service quality test in background mode while the user performs other conventional wireless device related functions;
• and
• transmits wireless network service quality test data to the central analysis and control server;
• wherein the wireless network testing software application programs the mobile wireless device to perform testing of wireless network functions and passive monitoring of network parameters to establish level of wireless network service quality.
