Method and device for quickly determining location-dependent pulse responses in signal transmission from or into a spatial volume

An apparatus for determining room-acoustic impulse responses comprising:

• one loudspeaker,
• one microphone, the loudspeaker configured for outputting a band-limited acoustic signal, the microphone configured for time-indexed recording of measurement values,
• a holder immobilizing the loudspeaker or the microphone at a predetermined location, and
• a position sensor for continuously determining and time-indexed recording local coordinates of at least one of the loudspeaker and the microphone as the at least one of the loudspeaker and the microphone, which constitutes a mobile device, is moved in the transmission or reception volume, wherein the apparatus is configured to determine the location dependent impulse responses with a linear equation system whose unknowns represent the impulse responses on discrete supporting points in the transmission or reception volume, based on the time-indexed recording of the measurement values and the time-indexed recording of the local coordinates, the distances between the supporting points satisfying a Nyquist criteria for scanning the signal in terms of local coordinates and time index.

A method for determining location-dependent impulse responses in a signal transmission with an apparatus for determining room-acoustic impulse responses comprising:

• a loudspeaker configured for outputting a band-limited acoustic signal, a microphone configured for time-indexed recording of measurement values, a holder immobilizing the loudspeaker or the microphone at a predetermined location, and a position sensor for continuously determining and time-indexed recording local coordinates of at least one of the loudspeaker and the microphone as the at least one of the loudspeaker and the microphone, which constitutes a mobile device, is moved in a transmission or reception volume, said method comprising:
• continuously emitting a band-limited signal by the loudspeaker;
• continuously detecting and time-indexed recording of the band-limited signal by the microphone;
• moving the mobile device during the emitting and detecting of the band-limited signal along a trajectory inside the transmission or reception volume while continuously detecting and time-indexed recording local coordinates of the mobile device;
• and
• determining the location dependent impulse responses with a linear equation system whose unknowns represent the impulse responses on discrete supporting points in the transmission or reception volume assigned to the mobile device, based on the time-indexed recording of the band-limited signal and the time-indexed recording of the local coordinates, the distances between the supporting points satisfying a Nyquist criteria for scanning the signal in terms of local coordinates and time index.
