System and method for improved DC power line communication

A PLC communication system for communicating over a cable having at least two power conductors, comprising:

• a master device comprising:
• a transceiver,
• a first inductor having a primary and a secondary winding,
• a second inductor having a primary and a secondary winding;
• the primary winding of the first inductor being coupled in series to the primary winding of the second inductor,
• said transceiver coupled to said series connected primary windings of the first and second inductors;
• and the secondary winding of the first inductor being coupled between a reference voltage and a first conductor in the cable,
• and the secondary winding of the second inductor being coupled between a power return and a second conductor in the cable;
• and
• a slave device comprising:
• a transceiver,
• a first inductor having a primary and a secondary winding,
• a second inductor having a primary and a secondary winding;
• the primary winding of the first inductor being coupled in series to the primary winding of the second inductor,
• said transceiver coupled to said series connected primary windings of the first and second inductors;
• and the secondary winding of the first inductor being coupled between a reference voltage and a first conductor in the cable,
• and the secondary winding of the second inductor being coupled between a power regulator and a second conductor in the cable.
