System and method for searching applications using multimedia content elements

A system for searching for mobile applications based on multimedia content elements, comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory coupled to the processor, the memory contains instructions that when executed by the processor cause the system to:
• receive an input search query including at least one multimedia content element;
• generate at least one signature for the at least one multimedia content element;
• generate a textual query using at least the one generated signature based on at least metadata of at least one matching concept;
• determine a context of the multimedia content element respective of the at least one generated signature, wherein the context is determined as the correlation between a plurality of concepts, wherein a concept is a collection of signatures representing elements of unstructured data of a plurality of multimedia content elements and metadata describing the concept;
• determine the textual query based on the determined context;
• query at least one application distribution platform using the generated textual query;
• analyze search results returned responsive to the textual query to determine relevancy of mobile applications designated in the search results to the multimedia content element;
• and
• cause the display of mobile applications determined to be relevant on a user device submitting the input search query.
