Abstract
The present disclosure is directed to a method of making a heat exchanger tube, such as multichannel tubes. The heat exchanger tube may include a plurality of generally parallel flow paths extending between opposite ends. The method may include removing a section of an outer wall along the length of the tube to expose at least some of the plurality of generally parallel flow paths.
Claims8
A method of making a heat exchanger, comprising:
- in a heat exchanger tube comprising a plurality of generally parallel flow paths extending between opposite ends, removing a section of an outer wall along a length of the heat exchanger tube to expose at least some of the plurality of generally parallel flow paths, wherein removing the section of the outer wall comprises removing the section from the outer wall proximate one of the opposite ends of the heat exchanger tube, such that the one of the opposite ends is configured to be inserted into a manifold, and such that an exposed section of the at least some of the plurality of generally parallel flow paths is entirely within the manifold, wherein the exposed section exposes the at least some of the plurality of parallel flow paths along the length of the heat exchanger tube;
- and
- separating a tube length of the heat exchanger tube to form multiple multichannel tubes.
