Devices and methods to use power spectrum or signal association for pain management

An electrical stimulation system, comprising:

• an implantable control module configured and arranged for implantation in a body of a patient and comprising an antenna and a processor coupled to the antenna, wherein the control module is configured and arranged to provide electrical stimulation signals to an electrical stimulation lead coupled to the implantable control module for electrical stimulation of patient tissue;
• and
• an external programming unit configured and arranged to communicate with the processor of the implantable control module using the antenna and to adjust stimulation parameters for production of the electrical stimulation signals, wherein the external programming unit comprises
• a processor configured and arranged to perform the following actions:
• obtaining at least two different biosignals of the patient,
• determining a measure of association between the at least two different biosignals, and
• altering at least one stimulation parameter of the electrical stimulation system in response to the measure of association between the at least two different biosignals;
• wherein the processor of the implantable control module is configured to direct delivery of electrical stimulation signals to one or more selected electrodes of the electrical stimulation system using the at least one stimulation parameter.
