Abstract
The invention relates to a herbal composition derived from Mangifera indica. Methods of making and using the composition for the management of obesity are also contemplated.
Claims5
A composition comprising:
- about 22% mangiferin,
- about 4% catechin,
- about 3% epicatechin
- about 0.4% quercetin dihydrate,
- 4.5+/−0.42% gallic acid;
- 0.93+/−0.23% 3,4 dihydroxy benzoic acid;
- 1.2+/−0.34% methyl gallate;
- 2.31+/−0.73% propyl gallate;
- 0.48+/−0.08% pyrogallol;
- 1.43+/−0.07% parahydroxy benzoic acid;
- 0.33+/−0.06% vanillic acid;
- 0.82+/−0.13% syringic acid;
- 0.12+/−0.02% ferulic acid;
- 0.76+/−0.14% ethyl gallate;
- and
- 0.16+/−0.05% ellagic acid;
- wherein said composition has a total flavonoid content of about 29% and a total polyphenol content of about 19%, and
- wherein said composition is in an administration form selected from the group consisting of:
- a pill, tablet, capsule, lozenge, chewing gum, emulsion, topical patch, buccal patch, and gummy.
