Reduction of intraocular pressure in the eye using a tubular clip

A system for draining excess fluid from a volume of an eye of a patient, the volume bordered by a tissue of the eye, the system comprising:

• a draining clip having:
• a first elongate leg configured for advancing distally into the tissue of the eye, the first elongate leg having a first channel extending therealong;
• a second elongate leg configured for advancing distally into the tissue of the eye, the second elongate leg having a second channel extending therealong;
• a base disposed adjacent a first proximal end of the first elongate leg and a second proximal end of the second elongate leg, the base supporting the first elongate leg and the second elongate leg, the base orientable to engage the tissue of the eye, wherein at least a first portion of the first elongate leg and at least a second portion of the second elongate leg of the advanced draining clip are deformable so that the base and the first elongate leg and the second elongate leg affix the draining clip to the tissue of the eye, and so as to pass the excess fluid from the region along the first channel and the second channel of the respective first elongate leg and second elongate leg;
• and
• a deployment assembly having:
• a first forceps jaw configured to bend at least a portion of the first elongate leg toward the base;
• a second forceps jaw operably coupled to the first forceps jaw, the second forceps jaw configured to bend at least a portion of the second elongate leg toward the base.

An ophthalmological surgery clip comprising:

• a first leg extending from a first proximal end to a first distal end, the first distal end configured for insertion into and through a tissue of an eye, the first leg having a first lumen extending between the first proximal end and the first distal end so as to provide a drainage path for fluid through the tissue;
• a second leg extending from a second proximal end to a second distal end configured for insertion into and through the tissue of the eye;
• and
• a clip body configured to engage the tissue of the eye and coupled to the first proximal end of the first leg and the second proximal end of the second leg, the second proximal end spaced apart from the first proximal end such that the clip body spans between the first and second legs, wherein the surgery clip is configured for deformation so as to effect repositioning the first distal end of the leg relative to the clip body and the second distal end of the second leg relative to the clip body such that the surgery clip is retained by the tissue.

An ophthalmological surgery clip for draining excess fluid from a region of a patient body, the region bordered by a tissue, the clip comprising:

• a first elongate leg extending from a first proximal end to a first distal end and configured to advance distally into a tissue, the first elongate leg defining a first channel that is configured to pass excess fluid from the region;
• a second elongate leg extending from a second proximal end to a second distal end and configured to advance distally into the tissue, the second elongate leg defining a second channel that is configured to pass excess fluid from the region;
• a base configured to engage the tissue and coupled to the first proximal end of the first elongate leg and the second proximal end of the second elongate leg, the second elongate leg spaced apart from the first elongate leg such that the base spans between the first and second elongate legs, at least a portion of the first elongate leg being deformably coupled to the base to affix the clip to the tissue and at least a portion of the second elongate leg being deformably coupled to the base to affix the clip to the tissue;
• and
• at least one pharmaceutical carried by a surface of the clip and configured for administration to the tissue.
