One-time cache

A proxy server for delivering dynamic web content, comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory coupled with the processor, wherein the memory is configured to provide the processor with instructions which when executed cause the processor to:
• prefetch by a proxy server from an origin server a plurality of responses to requests for dynamic web content at a URL (uniform resource locator);
• cache by the proxy server the plurality of prefetched responses in a one-time cache, wherein each prefetched response cached in the one-time cache is served at most once and then removed from the one-time cache;
• receive by the proxy server a request from a client device for the dynamic web content at the URL;
• serve by the proxy server to the client device one of the plurality of prefetched responses cached in the one-time cache, wherein the one of the plurality of prefetched responses is removed from the one-time cache after the one of the plurality of prefetched responses has been served;
• determine by the proxy server whether the dynamic web content at the URL includes at least some personalized content;
• and
• in the event that the dynamic web content at the URL is determined as including personalized content, embedding one or more macros that replace the personalized content in the one of the plurality of prefetched responses cached in the one-time cache, wherein after the one of the plurality of prefetched responses is served to the client device and received at the client device, the one or more macros execute on the client device to fetch the personalized content from a source and integrate the fetched personalized content with the one of the plurality of prefetched responses to form a complete response.

A computer program product for delivering dynamic web content, the computer program product being embodied in a tangible computer readable storage medium and comprising computer instructions for:

• prefetching by a proxy server from an origin server a plurality of responses to requests for dynamic web content at a URL (uniform resource locator);
• caching by the proxy server the plurality of prefetched responses in a one-time cache, wherein each prefetched response cached in the one-time cache is served at most once and then removed from the one-time cache;
• receiving by the proxy server a request from a client device for the dynamic web content at the URL;
• serving by the proxy server to the client device one of the plurality of prefetched responses cached in the one-time cache, wherein the one of the plurality of prefetched responses is removed from the one-time cache after the one of the plurality of prefetched responses has been served;
• determining by the proxy server whether the dynamic web content at the URL includes at least some personalized content;
• and
• in the event that the dynamic web content at the URL is determined as including personalized content, embedding one or more macros that replace the personalized content in the one of the plurality of prefetched responses cached in the one-time cache, wherein after the one of the plurality of prefetched responses is served to the client device and received at the client device, the one or more macros execute on the client device to fetch the personalized content from a source and integrate the fetched personalized content with the one of the plurality of prefetched responses to form a complete response.
