Electrode for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, and battery pack

A negative electrode for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, comprising:

• an electrode mixture layer comprising an active material, a conductive agent, and a binding agent binding the active material and the conductive agent;
• and
• a collector on which the electrode mixture layer is laminated;
• wherein
• the active material comprises particles of a composite body comprising a carbonaceous material, a metal phase and a phase of an oxide of the metal dispersed in the carbonaceous material;
• the metal and the metal of the oxide is at least one kind of an element selected from a group consisting of Si, Sn, Al, In, Ga, Pb, Ti, Ni, Mg, W, Mo, Fe and an alloy thereof,
• an average size of the metal oxide phase is from 50 nm to 1000 nm,
• a ratio of carbon to total elements on a surface of the composite body particle is from 40 mole % to 90 mole %, and
• the binding agent is a polyvinyl alcohol resin having a saponification degree of from 87 mole % to 99.9 mole %.
