Abstract
Systems and methods for visualizing trust scores in a social graph are described herein. The trust scores may be determined within or between individuals, groups, and/or entities connected in a network. A user may initiate the visualization of connections between themselves and others in the network. Contacts are selected for the visualization of the social graph, and a spatial distribution of the nodes is calculated. Nodes in the visualization of the social graph are rendered based on the calculated spatial distribution. Connections between the nodes may be rendered based on connectivity statistics calculated between the rendered nodes.
Claims36
A method for rendering a visualization of a social graph, wherein the visualization represents relationship data between a user and at least two other contacts in the social graph, the method comprising:
- receiving, by a device comprising a processor and from a second device of a user, social network credentials associated with the user based upon an input of the user into the second device;
- storing, in a memory of the device, relationship data associated with the user and the at least two other contacts in the social network based on the social network credentials, wherein the at least two other contacts are indicated via an input through a display of the visualization of the social graph on the second device;
- selecting, by the device, selected contacts from a group of contacts for the visualization of the social graph based on the relationship data;
- determining, by the processor, trust scores between the user and selected nodes representing the selected contacts based on an indication of trust in a user profile;
- based on at least one measure of fitness, calculating, by the processor, a spatial distribution of the selected nodes to visually communicate to the user the at least one measure of fitness, wherein the at least one measure of fitness comprises the determined trust scores;
- rendering, via a display of the device, the selected nodes based on the calculated spatial distribution;
- receiving, by the device and from the second device, at least one user adjustment to the spatial distribution;
- and
- updating, in the memory, at least a portion of the relationship data based upon the user adjustment.
A network server for rendering a visualization of a social graph on a display device, wherein the visualization represents relationship data between a user and at least two other contacts in the social graph, the network server comprising processing circuitry comprising a microprocessor configured to:
- receive social network credentials associated with the user from a second device of the user based upon an input of the user into the second device;
- store in a memory of the network server relationship data associated with the user and the at least two other contacts in the social network based on the social network credentials, wherein the at least two other contacts are indicated via an input through a display of the visualization of the social graph on the second device;
- select using the processor selected contacts from a group of contacts for the visualization of the social graph based on the relationship data;
- determine by the processor a trust score between the user and selected nodes representing the selected contacts based on an indication of trust in a user profile;
- based on at least one measure of fitness, calculate by the processor a spatial distribution of the selected nodes to visually indicate to the user the at least one measure of fitness, wherein the at least one measure of fitness comprises the trust score;
- cause to be rendered using a display of the second device the selected nodes based on the calculated spatial distribution;
- receive from the second device, at least one user adjustment to the spatial distribution;
- and
- update, in the memory, at least a portion of the relationship data based upon the user adjustment.
