Multi-phase self-capacitance scanning of sensors arrays

A method of multi-phase self-capacitance scanning of a sensor array, the method comprising:

• obtaining a plurality of measurements from a corresponding plurality of self-capacitance scanning operations on the sensor array, wherein obtaining a measurement from a corresponding self-capacitance scanning operation comprises:
• coupling together a plurality of sensor elements of the sensor array;
• and
• concurrently sensing the plurality of sensor elements;
• wherein the measurement represents a collective charge of the plurality of sensor elements accumulated during the corresponding self-capacitance scanning operation;
• and
• determining, based on the plurality of measurements, data values that respectively represent self-capacitances for each of the plurality of sensor elements.

A system comprising:

• a sensor array comprising a plurality of sensor elements;
• a sensor logic coupled to the sensor array, the sensor logic configured in each of a plurality of self-capacitance scanning operations to couple together and to concurrently sense the plurality of sensor elements to obtain a plurality of measurements, wherein each measurement represents a collective charge of the plurality of sensor elements accumulated during a corresponding self-capacitance scanning operation of the plurality of self-capacitance scanning operations;
• and
• a processing logic coupled to the sensor logic, the processing logic configured to determine, based on the plurality of measurements, data values that respectively represent self-capacitances for each of the plurality of sensor elements.
